Brief Information
Stand By Me Doraemon 2, a Doraemon 50th Anniversary special, is a sequel to the first 3DCG Doraemon movie, Stand By Me Doraemon, which was released in 2014 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Fujiko F. Fujio. Stand By Me Doraemon 2 is largely based on Doraemon’s 2000 short film Doraemon: A Grandmother’s Recollections and shortly based on Doraemon’s 2002 short film The Day I Was Born. The movie was originally scheduled to release in Japan cinemas on 7th August 2020. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the movie’s release was put on hold and it’s schedule was replaced by Doraemon: Nobita’s New Dinosaur (which was delayed from March). The movie was subsequently released in Japan on 20th November 2020. The worldwide release of the movie started off in Singapore on 4th February 2021 and will subsequently release in other Asia countries and regions which include Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, etc.
